Trust Organised Work Parties

Volunteers of the Trust meet up every Wednesday. Normally at Baylham or Pipps Ford but also further up and downstream along the towpath. We start around 8:30 to 9:00am and finish around 3pm. Once you know the ropes, start and finish times are very flexible.

If you would like to join us, email Ian Petchey, the Volunteer Restoration Manager, for details – Ian’s email address
If you would like to volunteer just for footpath clearance work once per month near your stretch of the river you can meet us there. Just email me in advance.

You don’t need any special skills, just a willingness to help. We will supply you with safety gear like gloves, goggles and a hard hat but you will need to bring your own safety footwear (steel toe cap and sole plate). Our work site is governed by the H&S At Work Regulations and as such PPE is mandatory.

There are, of course, numerous tea breaks. Since the Covid outbreak we all bring a flask of hot drink and a lunch pack.

Our Work Places

Baylham
To find our work site at Baylham follow the signs to Baylham Rare Breeds Farm, go past their car park, over a couple of small bridges, and you will see our site hut on the left, enter though the gate and park up on the grass…. Or use these cordinates for your satnav – 52:7:56.547N 1:5:7.824E or this link in Google Maps

Pipps Ford

Turnoff at the A14 and A140 interchange. Off the interchange roundabout is a smallish road with a small ‘Pipps Ford’ sign. Follow this around 100yds, turning right down a track, turn left towards the bottom and park up away from the house. You will need to walk down to the river, through the Pipps Ford house garden. Use these coordinates in your satnav – 52:8:44.542N 1:4:45.783E or  another Google Maps link. The Google maps car didn’t go all the way to Pipps Ford so the link above will only get you to the entrance from the roundabout off the A14.
